Wild Roses Festival 2026

July 10-12 | Evansburg, Alberta

Writing to Heal: Journaling Through Intergenerational Trauma

I'm honored to present as an Honorary Workshop Facilitator at Wild Roses Festival's sixth annual gathering.

In this session, we'll explore how writing can help us process what we've inherited—the patterns, silences, and stories passed down through our families. You'll leave with practical tools for journaling through difficult material and prompts to continue the work at home.

What to expect:

  • Readings from my work-in-progress memoir The Matriarchs and poetry collection

Maiden to Mother: A Millennial Comes of Age

  • Writing exercises we will work through

  • Writing prompts to take with you

  • Support and community exploring your own story

This festival has been part of my own journey. I first attended as a participant, then wrote about the experience for Edify Edmonton and on my blog. Now I'm returning to share what I've learned about writing through inherited trauma.
